Remarks

Designed by Angelo Lavranos (www.lavranosyachtdesign.co.nz),
semi-custom built in Cape
Town, South Africa for the commodore of the Royal Natal Yacht Club
(Durban) under the supervision of a Lloyd’s surveyor “Encore II
(previously Centime)” is a high performance, beautiful and elegant
56’ center cockpit cutter. She was extensively cruised and
occasionally raced in the Indian Ocean in some of the worlds
harshest seas prior to being delivered to and sold in Ft. Lauderdale
in 2000. Subsequent to refits in 2000 and 2002, Encore II was then
cruised in the Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean through 2005. The
current voyage across the Pacific took place in 2006 and Encore II
is now being cruised in Australia. This was the second Pacific
crossing for the current owners and modifications made in 2000 and
2002 were based on their previous 30,000 miles (www.encorevoyages.com)
of cruising experience.
Encore II in Moorea
Encore II sails safely and extremely
well under all conditions, and averaged over 200 nautical miles per
day for 5 consecutive days during the 2006 passage to French
Polynesia. Approaching Australia with 20+’ seas and 35+ knots of
wind, Encore II sailed “comfortably” at over 10 knots. The Solent
rigged headsails are roller furling and can be controlled by an
electric winch from behind the cockpit, while the mainsail can be
raised and reefed from the safety of the secure cockpit. The Solent
rig provides great flexibility. There are watertight bulkheads
located forward and aft (limber hole drained). Primary fuel and
water tanks are stainless steel inside the keel keeping the weight
low and also giving vast storage capacity. She has a Scheel keel
which makes her efficient with shallow draft. There are extensive
spares and redundancies for all systems. Detailed maintenance
records for engine, generator and all major repairs and upgrades.
Electronic schematics for principal electrical circuits. Paper
and/or electronic manuals for all onboard equipment and systems,
including complete engine shop manual set.

The spacious main salon and cockpit are
elegant for entertaining and dining. The fully trimmed out interior
in a combination of woods as well as the wood finished rigid dodger
is unique among her sister ships and makes for an exceptionally
beautiful yacht. |
